First pot finished (green)

Base of the second pot

Porcelain sheets setting up

Hi there! This week unfortunately did not feel as productive as the last. Still managed to get another vessel built, but wanted to get the base of another started. It can feel frustrating to get all that clay prep done and then the pot itself doesn’t work out. Either it's the shape that wasn't right or the construction wasn't staying center. Putting that aside, I was still able to finish the two forms I was working on, and I think I like the direction that they’re going in.

I still have the daunting task of how to finish these and what they should like when they're done. I talked with Brian about some ideas which I think were really helpful. Now I just need to decide what to apply to which pots. I think the idea of a cone 6 soda will fit my work and my ideas nicely. (hopefully still pending results)

The short term goal right now is to have a finished piece that I am happy/confident with to submit to NCECA. Now that probably sounds crazy, but I am gonna try anyway! I know for sure I will have at least two bisqued pots to work with to test out finishes. The second pot I just finished is still wet and I am thinking about adding some flashing slip to the porcelain sheets on the outside for a soda fire. The first pot is a bit too dry to add any flashing slip without having worries about it flaking off. Now I could just put it in the soda plain and see what happens or could test some stains in an electric. As well as coating some of the pot in mineral oil after it is finished to see if it can help with depth and not looking so flat. Ok well now I am just rambling so I am gonna call it there.
