First day of class! I am really excited about the tools class we have this semester. I already have a plan in my head for some tools I want to make that I think will aid in my work this semester. After going over the syllabus in class, I stayed after a little to make some test tiles of this stoneware I am using. I want to take the time this year to get a lot of research done and really hone in on my clay bodies and finishes. Tuesday, we went to Woodcraft to get some nice wood for paddles, ribs, and whatnot. I had a great time there and am really looking forward to making some nice things with the fancy wood. Also went to the hardware store and got the rest of the materials we needed for the first couple of projects. Wednesday, I am off work, so I went into the studio early and started by trying to bolt my desk to the wall because I really don't like how it shakes around and makes it hard to build on. I ended throwing my back out, not really sure how, so I left before class because I knew it was gonna be bad once it locked up. Really not how I wanted to start the semester. I had to call out of work for the rest of the week. Overall, the rest of the week was pretty boring. I couldn't really do anything; I just had to lie around waiting for my doctor to get back to me.
