Blog #14, Fall 2025

Last week was crazy! I am so tired! So, of course, having the week I did, Mia and I hosted a 20-person friendsgiving Monday night. And I had work on Monday morning, so I had to rush home to get the rest of the food made before everyone came over. I am mostly being dramatic; it was actually a blast, and so cool to see all of the friends we have made here in this city come together to eat some good food and get to hang out. I was certainly feeling the Thanksgiving spirit and was indeed thankful for everyone in our lives. Tuesday morning, Mia and I left for home to see family for the holiday. I obviously missed class that day, but Emma called us while we were driving to show us the unloading of the wood. Even over facetime I could tell that it was a good firing. We had great variation and ash build-up. This was the first time in a long time that I had something come out of a kiln looking like what I expected it to. I couldn’t wait to get back in person and see it. Being home was pretty uneventful. I try my best not to engage with my mom’s side of the family since we don’t see eye to eye on much. On top of that, my little brother has been studying abroad this semester, so he wasn’t home for Thanksgiving, which had me pretty bummed. While I was home, I tried to use the time away from work to work on grad applications. We left to come back to Louisville Saturday afternoon because we both had to work early Sunday morning.
