Blog #5, Fall 2025

I started the week off with making soup and pasta sauce for the freezer! Really felt like the house was empty food wise so that was nice. Tuesday I got to attach the handles I made last week! They actually set up just perfectly. I was afraid they were going to be too dry but they were just right. I'm pleased with how the shape of the piece is looking now. It was unbalanced without the handles and looked a little funny. I mapped out the lines I was going to cut grooves. I wanted to look like it was broken and had been put back together. Tuesday after class we had another makeathon and I was feeling pretty worn down and didn’t want to throw so I pinched some small cups to have for the sale. Next class I started the base of a new vessel and cut the grooves out of the amphora. I want to line them with a high iron clay body to have some variation in the firing. I had to leave the studio right after class due to work.
