Blog #9, Fall 2025

Monday was a wild day. Started out with doing a news segment with Ryan about the market this weekend, and thirty seconds before we had to go on air, the plate that I rushed to get done broke, so really glad I brought a backup one. Finished that and had to go straight to work. I got off around 5 and then headed out to the studio to load the soda kiln. I got the pilots lit at 10, and an hour later, I got a call, and the fire department was there because someone thought there was a gas leak :( So they killed the kiln :(. Luckily, nothing was actually wrong, and Emma and Hailey relit it for me the next morning. I got to the studio in the evening to bump the kiln and ended up splitting wood and cleaning the kiln pad for a couple of hours. We also bricked lil eddy and started a cone 10 firing as well as a cone 6. Big push to get everything fired for the weekend. While I was candleing the soda, I had a canvas that I needed to prime to make into a banner, and Hailey and Tarra helped me do that. I bumped the gas once more on both kilns and ended up leaving the studio around 9:30. Had an early start the next day and got back to the kiln at 6 am to get the firing going. The firing itself went very smoothly, although I didn’t get to downfire for as long as I would have liked. I unloaded the soda Friday night and cleaned and packed everything up for the market Saturday. Mia helped me get everything out to the farm and get all set up. The weekend as a whole wasn’t that busy because of the weather. It was cold and a little rainy, but all considering had a pretty decent sale. I was exhausted by Sunday and don’t remember doing much besides cleaning the tent and everything up and unpacking it all again.
